Lundi 27 mai 2002 "Liberalism and Ethics: The Need for Individual Rights". This lecture considers the nature of political liberalism and what basis there might foradopting classical liberal approach to politics. The importance of and need for the concept of individual rights is presented. Mardi 28 mai 2002 "Human Flourishing: Individualistic Perfectionism" This lecture presents a neo-Aristotelian account of the human good and shows how it provides a way to both understand and defend classical liberalism. Mercredi 29 mai 2002 "Why Individual Rights ?" Using an account of individualistic perfectionsim, this lecture presents an argument for the individual negative right to liberty Lundi 3 juin 2002 "Natural Law and Natural Rights: Bastiat Vindicated" This lecture continues the argument justifying the claim that individuals have a natural individual, basic, negative right to liberty. The relationship between natural law and natural rights is examined. Mardi 4 juin 2002 "Property Rights, Commerce, and the Liberal Order" Using neo-Aristotelian insights, this lecture presents a novel concept of the right to private property and an account of the role of philia in commercial political orders. Mercredi 5 juin 2002 "Responding to Critics" This lecture answers many of the objections to the previous argument for natural rights classical liberalism
